Mongolia joins the 1954 Hague Civil Procedure Convention

On
Monday, 3 March 2014, the Ambassador of Mongolia to the Netherlands,
H.E. Mr Davaadorj Khishigdelger, deposited the instrument of accession
of Mongolia to the
Hague Convention of 1 March 1954 on civil procedure (“Civil Procedure Convention”). Mongolia is the
48th Contracting State to the Convention, which will enter into force for that State in accordance with Article 31 of the Convention.

The accession ceremony was attended by Mr Jules van Eijndhoven and Mr
Mark Groen from the Treaties Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of the Netherlands, and Ms Angar Oyun from the Embassy of Mongolia.
Secretary General Christophe Bernasconi and Senior Legal Officer
Alexander Kunzelmann were also in attendance. In a short address, the
Secretary General welcomed the additional link between the Hague
Conference and
Mongolia, which is already Party to the
Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (“Apostille Convention”) and the
Hague Convention of 29 May 1993 on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (“Intercountry Adoption Convention”).
